CHILDREN’S
MINISTRY - CHILDREN OF HOPE
MISSION
By
ministering to the children of the community, the team aims to
reach the children’s families and bring to them the message
of God’s love and salvation through Jesus Christ.
STRATEGY
--
Saturday/ Sunday Children School
Every Saturday
morning in five (5) areas in Makati and every Sunday afternoon
in Maricaban, Pasay City, ITP volunteers teach the Bible in children’s
school and conduct feeding among children aged 4 to 12 years old.
Simultaneous to the conduct of the school, first-aid treatment
is given to children with wounds and sores and who are suffering
from common minor ailments. Whenever appropriate, financial assistance
is extended to augment the school supplies and materials needs
of the children. Individual coaching in reading and writing is
also done.
NUMBER
OF BENEFICIARIES
There are about 50 children attending the children school in each
area or a total of about 300 children.
MINISTRY
OPPORTUNITIES
Between 5-7 volunteers work as teachers, marshals, cooks and food
servers in each area. The need is still great and more volunteers
and missionaries are welcome.

TO THE YOUTH
MISSION
The
Youth Ministries aim to turn the youth (street youth, members
of youth gangs and other youth groups) from the worldly urban
lifestyle of drugs, destruction and vices to a life of significance
through the Gospel
STRATEGIES
There
are three ministries among the young people with ages from 13
to 21 years old in the same areas served by the Children of Hope.
Depending on the need and interest of the contacts, they are channelled
to the following groups, namely:
a.
ASTIG YOUTH TROPAHAN (Toughies Troop)
Young
people are invited to a weekly fellowship. They gather for prayer
and sports and / or jam sessions with volunteers who teach them
how to strum guitars and play with drums. A monthly evangelistic
Jam night is held during which bands and musicians from other
churches come over and minister to the community. Occasionally,
youth camps are held where the young people are invited. A campus
ministry will be undertaken by this group soon.
b. BRIDGE THE GAP
An
ITP missionary and other volunteers offer the street youth and
street gang members in the same areas positive music and lifestyle
through hip hop subculture. Jam sessions, fellowship and prayer
time characterize the weekly meetings.
c. SELAH
This
group aims to reach the youth through contemporary music . Seminars
are conducted to train interested young people in the use of the
keyboard, the guitar and other musical instruments.
NUMBER
OF BENEFICIARIES
40
young people in Makati; 30 in Pasay City
MINISTRY
OPPORTUNITIES
More
missionaries and volunteers are needed for this group. The present
complement consists of the following:
a.
Two female and two male youth volunteers make the weekly rounds
with ASTIG YOUTH TROPAHAN on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
b.
An ITP missionary and other volunteers work with the BRDIGE THE
GAP group
c.
By March this year, there will be only one volunteer with SELAH
